June is celebrated as Environmental Month in the British Virgin Islands and to observe this occasion Aqua Purification is offering a 10% discount on its annual service contracts.

Water is a critical resource and in many places of the world it is a very scarce resource. Within the British Virgin Islands, the legal requirement for cisterns in dwelling and business places represents one important aspect of water management. Cisterns are an important means of storing water to ensure reserve during periods of scarcity. However, Aqua Purification has recognised that many householders and business owners do not pay adequate attention to the management of their cistern water.

Careful management of the water source is important as it affects the health of the persons using the water in many different ways. This is especially true since cistern water is often used for bathing, cooking, brushing of teeth etc. Proper cistern management should include regular cleaning of roofs so as to minimise the amount of debris getting into the cistern, careful covering of inlets and outlets with wire mesh to prevent animals like the Cuban tree frog, snakes and rodents from invading the cisterns; periodic cleaning of the cistern itself and treatment and purification of water (by such methods as filtration, chlorination and exposure to Ultra Violet light).

Aqua Purification recognises that householders and business persons may not always have the time or expertise to protect their cistern water on their own, or to ensure that the water in their cistern is of acceptable quality for drinking. Aqua Purification therefore provides a one (1) year service contract to its customers. A service contracts with Aqua Purification ensures regular monitoring of the customers water supply by professionally trained staff. Regular monitoring of the cistern water supply by our professional service has the additional benefit that potential problems will be identified early and recommendations made to our customers, possibly reducing the long term impact due to lack of maintenance.
